I am surprised Korax never pointed that out!!!

RE: Anyone Up for Multiplayer?

2 things, did you add the registry i posted above? if not use the 1 that specifies with your OS, this will at this time only work on xp, i have tried on vista and it will not work, however through hamachi coop works fine, and i have not had any trouble setting it up manually, or through launcher

let me know

RE: Anyone Up for Multiplayer?

Well after all this i can say that coop does not work - i don't know what were you talking about..

My xfire nick is artasscorp, so contact me and we will play Hexen II DM online.
However i would like to know how can one play a coop single player game with his friend through TCP/IP protocol, since i see it does not work.
The Hexen II launcher 1.1 does not support coop, despite it has an option "dedicated server coop" - so what? It does not work.
I really don't understand is it so hard to make Hexen II fully functional single player coop game like in Heretic II? We are both on WINXP.

Maby you did understood, we don't need hamachi, hamachi is needed to imitate a LAN game through internet. We don't use internet. We conneect 2 PC's through LAN TPCI/IP protocol. In Heretic II one of us hosts a game and the other joins the game through LAN.

This simple way is the way i would expect in Hexen II to work. Can it be done?

RE: Anyone Up for Multiplayer?

yes i can help you,

first off, have you 100% properly patched UQE, the first few times i set it up it wasn't properly patched like the instructions said

second if either you or your friend are on vista you must run in xp compatibility mode, and if your using vista hexen2.exe will not run, so you will need to use glhexen2.exe instead

third have you applied my modded registry i listed above?

fourth, are you using launcher to set up your hexen 2 UQE server, i have found it is the easiest way to set up either coop or deathmatch in hexen 2 UQE

and fifth, when you set up your hamachi network, how are you connecting in hexen 2 UQE, i have found out opening the console by pressing ` at the main menu, and typing connect (hamachi ip of the host) press enter, and you should be able to join rite in

let me know if that helped

RE: Anyone Up for Multiplayer?

I know hamachi and used it in the past for other games..

I've been told you know how make a cooperative game connection. Can you please guide me? Me and and my friend want to connect 2 PC's through TCP/IP LAN cable and have a good time in playing Hexen II single player, just like we are doing with Heretic II.

Is this possible with UQE 1.13? Because i can't see how..

RE: Anyone Up for Multiplayer?

hamachi is a program that creates a vlan network, so its as if we are on lan and theres really no configuration you join a network and in that network anyone can host, then you just join in hexen II using the ip of the host in hamachi, it works great, also if u have dmz enabled on your router, aswell as the clients connecting to your server, and you add this below to the registry uqe will work perfect over the internet, if you are on xp, however im still doing testing with vista and hopefully will get something working soon

heres my example, however i am on a x64 machine, with a directory different than the default which is C:\Program Files\Hexen II\ mine is F:\Program Files (x86)\Hexen II

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Activision\Hexen II]
"EXE"="Hexen2_exe"
"FTP"="HEXEN2"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Activision\Hexen II\1.13]
"Version"="1.13"
"AppPath"="F:\\Program Files (x86)\\Hexen II\\Hexen2.exe"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Activision\Hexen II Mission Pack]
"EXE"="Hexen2_exe"
"FTP"="HEXEN2MP"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Activision\Hexen II Mission Pack\1.13]
"AppPath"="F:\\Program Files (x86)\\Hexen II\\Hexen2.exe"
"Version"="1.13"

however if you edit yours to look something like this it should work, if your directory for Hexen II UQE is different then you will have to fix it where it says "AppPath"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWAREActivision\Hexen II]
"EXE"="Hexen2_exe"
"FTP"="HEXEN2"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Activision\Hexen II\1.13]
"Version"="1.13"
"AppPath"="C:\\Program Files\\Hexen II\\Hexen2.exe"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Activision\Hexen II Mission Pack]
"EXE"="Hexen2_exe"
"FTP"="HEXEN2MP"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Activision\Hexen II Mission Pack\1.13]
"AppPath"="C:\\Program Files\\Hexen II\\Hexen2.exe"
"Version"="1.13"

if your having trouble, let me know what your directory for UQE is an ill write you a registry key and it should help you

but anyways with hamachi we can join regardless of any of these registry values, you would just connect to my hamachi network then join in with my ip which you would see in hamachi

let me know

RE: Anyone Up for Multiplayer?

And how should this be? To keep hexen II multiplayer alive we need people to join when my server is hosted, if you would like to join please reply and i will send you the password to connect to my hamachi network. Normally the servers i host are deathmatch only, occasionally we will host a coop server. My server is up at 8pm eastern time on Saturday nights and will go on until the last person decides to leave, however i can start to host Friday nights again if anyone wants to join.

hamachi is a free vlan program, we use this because as of now it is the easiest way to connect to hexen II servers without any trouble, you can find it here https://secure.logmein.com/products/hamachi/list.asp

Let me know if you want to join in anytime
